DEVOPS ON GOOGLE CLOUD
OVERVIEW
A leading retail enterprise needed to modernize their infrastructure, migrating on-prem applications to Google Cloud Platform. BBI focused on achieving high availability, scalability, reliability, and maintainability of data components. The resulting framework leveraged a variety of GCP tools to build and automated, secure system.

CHALLENGE
Our client knew they had to migrate to the cloud, and chose Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for its breadth of tooling and level of security. While migrating, their priorities included:
Reducing the time-to-market to deliver product innovations.
Modernizing architecture to enable next-gen delivery capabilities.
Improving the application release process.
SOLUTION
The BBI project team designed and built a framework that included:
- Service-oriented workloads and operations where applications are defined, tested, deployed, observed, and measured.
- Complete immutability using Infrastructure as Code: provisioning in Terraform, and managing resources for 180+ lines of businesses with extensive use of GCP tools.
- Automated CI/CD pipeline, aligned with business goals to achieve frequent releases.
Google Cloud tools used include BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, Data Fusion, and Compute Engine.
OUTCOME
Significant improvements in the response time to on-demand data requests from the business paved the way for the development team's vision for data as a product.
